Porous mastic asphalt (PMA)

Key features

  • High deformation resistance
  • Noise reduction >4 dB (A)
  • Reliable course bond
  • High impermeability
  • Installed with asphalt pavers, just like rolled asphalt

Region

Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Thuringia

Installation:

  • Construction of the base consisting of asphalt base courses or binder courses with an asphalt paver
  • No need to apply a bituminous emulsion as a bonding course
  • Installation of the porous mastic asphalt with an asphalt paver
  • No need for additional compaction by a paver or roller (only subsequent smoothing with roller)
  • No need to apply crushed gravel
  • The surface can then be finished depending on the subsequent use, e.g. shot peening to increase initial skid resistance

Porous mastic asphalt is suitable for:

  • Asphalt surfaces on construction sites
  • Roads on motorways and highways
  • A48 Kreuz Koblenz
  • A63 Nieder-Olm
  • A61 Gundersheim
  • B48 Enkenbach-Alsenborn
